GTD Week: Wall calendar
1 comment so farThis week is a review of ways to Get Things Done and get organized with the end goal being a simpler, less stressful, more productive life. So far we’ve covered Planning Systems (Franklin, Day Timer) and the less sophisticated, but simpler Moleskine Planner.
Today we’ll be covering the oft overlooked, yet timeless, wall calendar.
Wall Calendar Pros:
- Cheap. Really cheap.
- Huge selection. You can get a calendar with pictures of just about anything you want on it. For the last ten years my mom has given me an Oregon wall calendar for Christmas. I love it.
- Very noticeable. Sometimes with other planners/calendars I’ll remember to write appointments and to-do’s in them, but I’ll forget about it. Having a calendar hanging on the wall is a good way to remember to see what’s coming up and what you need to prepare for.
- It’s public. A calendar in the kitchen lets everyone know what everyone else is up to and when.
Wall Calendar Cons:
- Not much room for to-do’s or extensive daily scheduling.
- Can’t take it with you. Unless you want to look really weird.
- Takes up a lot of space on the wall.
Does anyone use a wall calendar as their primary organization/scheduling? How do you like it? Leave word in the comments.

Even as high tech as I try to be, we always have at least a couple wall calendars in our home where we write down things that are going on in our lives. You don’t have to turn on your computer, recharge its batteries, or even have electricity. All you need is a pen, and you get those free just about anywhere.
